Route 66 - Act 3: The Forest Motel

Opening

The session opens as Kate and Moki pull into the parking lot of the forest motel. The place seems almost abandoned, with no cars out front aside from a maintenance van.

The pair are reluctant to go in and insist on sleeping in the car, but the sound of distant barking made Moki scared enough to head inside.

Before they open the door, Kate has the idea to summon an unseen servant to open the door, just in case it was trapped. It opens the door revealing a 1930's-esque motel, with a sign pointing to an oddities exhibit inside the motel.

As they enter, Kate's unseen servant is dismissed, though not by her. The motel's own unseen servants are cleaning. As they see Kate and Moki, they ring a bell for the owner.

The Owner

A man comes out and introduces himself as Edmond. Notably, he wears a cape with a lapel. Kate and Moki check in with him and get a room to stay the night. Before he hands them the keys, he offers them a tour of the oddities museum. The pair see no reason to deny it, and allow him to show them the exhibits.

He mentions that he had just gotten a new exhibit, one that he was especially proud of, having created it himself.

He shows us a special camera that allows him to capture a moment in time and hold it in stasis. He teases about his latest addition, but it remains sealed off for the time being.

There are a few other exhibits, all taken by other members of Edmond's family tree. After taking a look at them, Kate and Moki head upstairs to their room and go to sleep.
