The Mall ~ Reprise
We start in the break room where Moki, Kate, and Katrina are crashing in recovery from their time on the route
Moki is avoidant to Katrina as she does not trust her. After some back and forth, we learn from Katrina that Adventures n Ventures were supposed to buy out the mall in the interest of both research and cover-up, however it wasn't. None of us know why.
After some back and forth, and some disagreement, Katrina smiles her too-wide smile at Moki, who returns her own demonic too-wide smile with uncannily cocked head.
Katrina opts to pull a psychological trick on Moki by altering her perception of reality. In this state, the door out of the break room was locked and Katrina was visible in the news broadcast which was playing on the break room TV.
After a while, this grew and Moki was assaulted by sounds and visions of Katrina, who said "You might think you're scary, but I'm the thing that goes bump in the night", before it all returned to normal.
Moki responds that she doesn't care before storming out of the break room on her own.
Moki heads to the knife shop, where she proceeds to spend the last of her money on additional magical crossbow bolts. Katrina watches from a distance. Moki eventually makes her way to the food court and sees Katrina there. She invites Moki to sit and mentions that they don't have to fight.
Moki expresses that she doesn't have a reason to trust her, given what they've been through right now. Katrina seems understanding and takes a moment to show Moki her dog tags, they read "Cheshire Cat". Moki doesn't seem to understand what these mean. What also becomes clear from their conversation is that neither truly disliked each other. They just had their reasons to test each other. Katrina was testing the pair to see if they could handle the route. And in turn the behaviour she showed placed Moki in a position of testing her. They came out of the conversation on better terms.
Kate heads out to find Moki and as she steps out of the break room, is recognized by a mall cop. A guy on a segue named Brock who mentions her history of staying overnight and how he intends to report her etc.
Katrina is watching from a distance, though a different one to the one Moki had met.
Eventually Moki joins back to meet her and is also called into question given their association.
As Brock keeps threatening the pair, the group feels a familiar sense of an anomaly and try to tell Brock that he's in danger. He refuses to listen to Kate, thinking she's trying to weasel her way out of trouble. Moki intimidates him using her too wide smile, and he takes off on his segue.
